Nursery Pictures- Part 1

We started work on Brendan's bedroom this weekend.  I bought the paint and supplies and Jason provided the labor.  I went back and forth on the paint color but we ended up going with a pale blue/gray color that looks really good with the bedding that we purchased.  It's a very understated and calming color.   Coincidentally, it's the same color my mom used in her family room.

There is still so much to do but here is a sneak peek.

Before, the walls were tan and khaki with a chair rail dividing the sections.  The baseboards and chair rail were in major need of touch-ups.

Jason starts to work on the first of four coats of paint.  We bought the Behr Premium Ultra brand paint and we were not impressed.  The paint smelled awful (like cat pee) and it seemed like we could never get enough paint on the walls even though the paint was branded as a primer/paint all-in-one.

Under the chair rail, we decided to go with bright white to cover the khaki color.  Jason had to get on his hands and knees to reach a couple spots so he fashioned these crazy looking knee pads from a couple of old socks.  Don't get any ideas ladies... he is all mine :)

After lots of paint, touch-ups and near catastrophes, we are finally done.  I've ordered a bunch of accessories to tie everything together and there is still so much to do.

The bedding is from Pottery Barn Kids and is called Kingston in blue/green plaid.

Shot of the dresser/changing table/book shelf...gotta love multi-purpose furniture.
Brendan's newly organized closet with a few clothes and shoes that we've already purchased.
It feels so good to have the hardest part done!  I will post more pictures as the remaining accessories make their way into the room.

  1. The color looks great and you're right, it is very calming. Just ask Henry. It only takes him a few minutes in the den and LZboy to fall fast asleep. The bedding goes well with the color. Brendan will really like it. Love, Mom
