So many changes, so little time, so much love

My poor blog...  I clicked on the link the other day and realized that I've neglected it for too long.  Time is short and the to-do list is oh-so long but I must make my blog one of my priorities.

So here are a few bullet points to bring everyone up to speed...

  • Little Brendan is not so little anymore.  He turned two in November 2013 and is an adventuresome, energetic, clever little guy who loves trucks, trains and Sofia the First (it's a phase).  He is the best big brother and a big help to his Mommy.  When he is not drinking gook (milk) or eating ma-uffins (muffins), he is making his brothers laugh by dancing, singing and making silly faces.

  • In February 2013, we found out we were having twins.  Jason and I were nervous, excited, scared but luckily we had enough sense to prepare for their arrival during my first and second trimester.  I went on bed rest at 28wks and at 34wks I was faced with an emergency c-section due to Pre-eclampsia/HELLP syndrome .  Our twins, Gavin and Logan, spent three weeks in NICU.  It was challenging and stressful to say the least.

  • And then they came home....Oh my, the first three months were a complete blur.  It's true that it does get easier or maybe your body and mind just get used to the constant lack of sleep and the never-ending parenting duties.  Jason has been a second-mother by taking on much of the responsibilities.  Somehow we do it all and then some.
  • Gavin and Logan are seven months old now and are healthy, huge and handsome like their Daddy and brother :).  It's amazing to see how far we've come in such a short amount of time.  The days fly by and we try so hard to enjoy every moment of their little lives because we know we will blink and they will be off to college.

Brendan's Rice Cereal Experience

Mommy calls this thing a bib but I think she put my cape on backwards.

Ok, Mom, why do you look like you're up to something?

Alright, now you have me nervous.

OMG!  What the heck is that?!?  It sure doesn't look like a bottle.

I am not sure what I am supposed to do with this thing.

Ummmm....wow, this is disgusting.

Where's that bottle?

Not that I am complaining but

I sure would like to have some ice cream instead.

I guess this will have to do for now.

I think this stuff needs some spice.  Where does Daddy keep the hot sauce?

Hey, Mom!  I've got the hang of this now.  Let me do it.

Did somebody say the "b" word?   Eating this goop is totally worth it if it means I get to take a bath!

Take this thing off of me!  I am done!

Brendan's First Six Weeks

This is my first attempt at a video montage.  Some of the pictures were taken with Jason's iPhone so they aren't the best quality.  Any tips, tricks or good video software advice would be greatly appreciated!

Silly little video- Smiling Brendan

Brendan has been smilng and laughing for quite a few weeks but it seems that whenever we bring out the camera his smiles come to a hault.  Here is a video that contains a few of his cute little expressions.

Our lives are complete

The day finally arrived and our lives changed forever.  Our little boy entered the world on November 16th at 4:43pm.  He weighed 7 pounds, 9 ounces and measured 19 1/2 inches long.
The pictures above were taken by the hospital photographer.  I think she did an amazing job.

Since his birth, we have enjoyed every second we get to spend with our precious little guy.  His three favorite hobbies are sleeping, eating and staring at his mommy and daddy.  So far he has been a perfect baby.

Jason has been busy taking pictures while I have totally neglected my blogging duties.   Here is my feeble attempt to catch everyone up on the past month.

Just arrived at the hospital- November 16th at midnight.
 Seventeen hours later, Brendan arrived.
Just minutes old, waiting to get his measurements.

Waiting for Brendan

The baby showers are over and we are just counting down the days till we get to meet our little boy.  When I first found out I was pregnant, I thought that November would never arrive and here we are, fall decorations are up, Thanksgiving plans are in order and I am preparing for my last day at work before maternity leave.  All in all, it has been a pretty smooth nine months... in fact, if not for the constant heartburn and insomnia, I don't really mind being pregnant.

Jason and I have been putting the finishing touches on Brendan's room.  Here are some pictures of the final product.

Hopefully, the next picutres we add to our blog are of our little guy!  Can't wait :)

Brendan's First Professional Photo Shoot

Today, Jason and I went to Visions of Love Ultrasound in Denton to see our little guy for the first time in 3D.  It was well worth the $99 to see Brendan's little face, hands, and feet.  He was extremely active so the sonographer was able to capture 84 pictures plus we have a full motion DVD we can share with friends and family.

Here are a few of the highlights; they were hard to narrow down since he is so photogenic.

Three more months :)

SHHHH!  I am trying to sleep.

Jason rubs his eyes the exact same way when he gets embarrassed.

I sure am cramped in here!

What a sad little face :(  Again, it looks just like a Jason expression.

"Leave me alone," as he flashes us 'the bird'.

Here comes trouble...

No more pictures, please!

Nursery Pictures- Part 2

Jason never ceases to amaze me.  He completed this wall in less than 2 hours and it looks incredible.  The wall decals are a great alternative to paint.  Even on close inspection, you would never guess that these are decals and not a professional paint job.
This is the large boat directly behind Brendan's crib.
